Mission Statement:
The New York State Law Enforcement and Community Council (NYSLECC) is dedicated to fostering collaboration between law enforcement professionals and community stakeholders. Our mission is to enhance public safety, promote trust, and provide specialized training and resources to improve the effectiveness of law enforcement while addressing the unique needs of our communities.
Explanation of Membership Roles:
A member of the CID (Criminal Investigation Division) serving within the NYSLECC may hold the following credentials and roles:
1. New York State Peace Officer Designation:
• This designation grants the member certain law enforcement powers as outlined in New York State Criminal Procedure Law §2.10.
• Responsibilities may include conducting investigations, making arrests, issuing summonses, and performing other law enforcement duties, particularly in areas related to their specialization.
2. Federal Motor Carrier Certification:
• Certified to enforce federal regulations pertaining to commercial motor vehicles, ensuring compliance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) guidelines.
• This certification supports initiatives to reduce commercial vehicle violations, prevent accidents, and promote road safety.
3. Auto Crime Specialist:
• Expertise in preventing and investigating auto theft, insurance fraud, and other vehicle-related crimes.
• Works closely with local, state, and federal agencies to dismantle auto theft rings and educate the public on vehicle crime prevention.
By bringing together professionals with these advanced credentials, the NYSLECC bridges the gap between law enforcement and the community, ensuring that justice and public safety are achieved through skilled and compassionate service. The organization also emphasizes ongoing education, training, and advocacy to meet evolving challenges in law enforcement and public service.

**Legal Notice**
To: All Concerned Parties
In accordance with the regulations of the New York State Law Enforcement and Community Council (NYSLECC),
all large badges and member IDs previously issued by the organization will become void as of
**12:00 AM on September 10, 2024**. Any continued use of NYSLECC badges or IDs after this date will be
considered an infringement of the organization's intellectual property rights.
The NYSLECC legal team reserves the right to take legal action, including but not limited to fifiling lawsuits,
against any individual or group found to be using NYSLECC badges or IDs without authorization.
Furthermore, law enforcement officers are hereby authorized to confiscate any NYSLECC-related items,
including badges and IDs, found in the possession of unauthorized individuals after the stated expiration date.
NYSLECC will be issuing newly designed smaller member badges and IDs. All members are encouraged to
follow the upcoming instructions and exchange their badges and IDs promptly to avoid any legal implications.
